Promotion of MDMLG Health Sciences Award Objectives:
Committee Member: Valerie Reid Accomplishments: The web site was successfully transferred from FrontPage software to DreamWeaver in September 2005. The switchover was transparent to the web user. Alexia Estabrook and I worked together to implement the MDMLG Blog, which replaced the main MDMLG web page. It is hosted at Blogger. We developed a Blog Policy, which was accepted by the Board at the March 2006 Board Meeting. ( http://www.mdmlg.org/blog-policy.htm ) All Board members and Committee chairs were invited to join as MDMLG Blog contributors. Alexia created both an MDMLG Calendar and an MDMLG Board Calendar, and linked them to the web site. ( http://www.mdmlg.org/mdmlg_calendar ) Four issues of the MDMLG Newsletter (September 2005, December 2005, March 2006, and June 2006) were published on the MDMLG web site in conjunction with the MDMLG Newsletter Committee ( http://www.mdmlg.org/members/news.htm ). We switched from HTML format to PDF format for the newsletter with the December 2005 issue; it was very favorably received. The Announcements for each of the MDMLG Programs were put on the web site, along with the maps / directions to each location and the Evaluation Forms ( http://www.mdmlg.org/meeting.htm ). New web pages included: Recently Presentations and Publications ( http://www.mdmlg.org/recent-presentations-publications.htm ), Practicum Experiences ( http://www.mdmlg.org/practicum-experience.htm ), and Library Advocacy, a collection of links from the speakers at the December 2005 program ( http://www.mdmlg.org/library-advocacy.htm ). The Meeting Minutes for both the General Membership Meetings and the Executive Board Meetings were mounted on the Members-Only portion of the web site ( http://www.mdmlg.org/members/minutes.htm ). In addition, the Treasurer's Reports for this fiscal year were included on the Members-Only portion of the web site ( http://www.mdmlg.org/members/treasurer.htm ). The MDMLG Directory was updated initially in August with current information obtained from the MDMLG Membership Committee, and subsequently updated as needed ( http://www.mdmlg.org/members/directory.htm ). In addition, the mailing labels file was updated and uploaded monthly. Many other web pages were added or updated on the MDMLG web site: Announcements for the CE classes sponsored by MDMLG, Biographical Sketches for the Elections, Compensation & Benefits Committee Resources, Committee / Board Member web pages, Executive Board / Committee Chair Goals and Objectives, updated MDMLG Scholarship information, Photo Album, Annual Reports, Revised Bylaws and the Site Index. The Job Bank web page was updated as needed. All current MDMLG members were added to the MDMLG-L listserv. The entire MDMLG web site is link-checked and updated on a monthly basis. The MDMLG Username and Password for the Members-Only portion of the web site were changed in the fall after the membership renewals were completed. Each current member was notified. The entire MDMLG web site was archived on CD ROM and submitted to the MDMLG Archives. This procedure will be continued once a year. Work Yet To Be Accomplished: The June 2006 Newsletter issue will be on the web site by May 25 th .
